President, AWRT-NYC

American Women in Radio & Television, New York City (AWRT NYC) provides advocacy, educational programs, networking opportunities, and career development services to women in the electronic media industry.
By uniting to help each other, the women in electronic media in the New York City area have been able to make the local media climate more welcoming and effective for women in the industry.

AWRT has historically provided a voice for women in the electronic media and allied fields, and currently through local and national efforts strives to:

  • Work to improve the quality of the electronic media;
  • Promote the entry, development, and advancement of women in the electronic media and allied fields;
  • Serve as a medium of communication and idea exchange; and
  • Respond actively and appropriately to community concerns.

Members of AWRT NYC are invited to take advantage of local AWRT events, workshops, and development programs. AWRT NYC operates a mentoring initiative that pairs newcomers to the industry with seasoned professionals, providing junior-level professionals with the opportunity to learn skills, ask advice, and seek support from senior level members of AWRT.

AWRT NYC sponsors monthly luncheons to provide members with opportunities to discover new aspects of the industry, to hear from and directly interact with leaders in the field, and to discuss pressing issues facing the media industry.

Local businesses sponsor AWRT NYC to show their support for women's issues and advancement in the media industry. As sponsors, companies receive recognition in all AWRT news releases and media events, as well as ad space in select AWRT publications, programs, and events.
