Ann Liguori

Ann Liguori, as a leader in the sports broadcasting and marketing industries (having had great success as a sports talk show host, interviewer, producer, reporter and journalist for radio, television and print media outlets) has been ahead of her time. From her childhood days competing in sports with the boys (earning 16 Varsity letters in High School) and playing on her high school boys' tennis team because they did not have a girls' team at the time, Ann has spent a good part of her career paving the way for women in sports and sports broadcasting.

Liguori is the President of her own television sports production company and owner of the award-winning "Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori" weekly television series, seen on regional sports networks throughout the country. The show has aired since 1989 (Mickey Mantle was her first interview) and the show is the longest-running, weekly sports show on cable that is hosted, owned and produced by a woman. Ann has acquired a library of more than 600 half-hour interviews with legends from sports, entertainment, global affairs and business, all of which are available on DVD and VHS at www.annliguori.com.

One of the top interviewers in the business, Liguori is known for asking tough questions in a respectful way. As a producer for many of her shows, she also books the top names and is able to secure some of the most difficult interviews. And on many of her shows, she plays golf with major stars - - while simultaneously interviewing them - - using golf as a "window into the souls" of her guests. In 2001, Ann became the first woman in sports media to be honored with the Association for Women in Communication's "Headliner's Award," previously awarded to Katherine Graham, Barbara Walters, Sylvia Porter and Gail Sheehy, to name a few. The award is AWC's highest honor bestowed upon a professional member, and is presented on the basis of recent national or international accomplishments. In 2005, her "Sports Innerview" show was named the winner of the Media Award in the "Television" category by the International Network of Golf (ING), a media-based networking organization with more than 1,000 members.

On the business side, Ann has been presented with the "Trailblazer's Award" from the National Association of Women Business Owners, Long Island Chapter; and in Spring 2006, she was honored at a dinner in recognition of her being named one of Long Island's "50 Most Influential Business Women for 2006" by Long Island Business News magazine.

Ann also co-hosted "Golf 2000 with Peter Jacobsen," a nationally-syndicated golf magazine television show in which she booked, produced and appeared in the celebrity golf segment each week. Ann also was the first woman to host and produce her own weekly, prime-time series for The Golf Channel. "Conversations with Ann Liguori" featured Ann golfing with and interviewing stars such as Celine Dion, Joe Pesci, Sylvester Stallone, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Dan Quayle, Charles Barkley, the late Charles Schulz and many more. Ann booked all the guests for the show and hosted it, while her company produced the program.

In addition, Ann is a much sought-after corporate spokesperson and motivational speaker, addressing a variety of groups at conventions, book signings, universities, golf events and other venues. She represents Bobby Jones Golf at various golf and media functions.

Ann is one of the original WFAN Radio sports talk show hosts still on the air at the New York station, which was the first in the nation to go to an all-sports format in 1987. Her Sunday evening show (9pm-1am) features interviews with top sports personalities, including athletes, coaches, columnists and agents, plus a live chat session (on annliguori.com), as well as calls from listeners. She is the golf and tennis correspondent for WFAN and each year covers The Masters, U.S. Open (Golf and Tennis), the British Open, Ryder Cup, NYC Marathon and other assignments for the station.

Ann has covered six Olympics for network radio as a show host and reporter covering a variety of Olympic sports, including the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games, the 1992 Albertville and 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games, the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy where she reported for Westwood One Radio Network, doing live play-by-play and reports on the men's and women's alpine competitions.

An updated and expanded version of her popular book, "A Passion for Golf - Celebrity Musings About the Game," which features a collection of interviews she has done while on the golf course with some of the most successful celebrities in sports, Hollywood, music and business, will be published in May 2007. Ann has also produced "A Passion for Life, Celebrity Musings from the Fairways," for the Audio Book Club, which is an audio version of some of her top interviews.

Ann will be hosting the 10th Annual Ann Liguori American Cancer Society Golf Classic in June on the Eastern End of Long Island, an event that has raised more than a million dollars for ACS in the first nine years of its existence. Ann plays in numerous celebrity/charity golf tournaments, served on the Board of Trustees for the National Academy of TV Arts and Sciences, is on the Advisory Board of the Women's Sports Foundation and is on the Board of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Florida (USF), where she has established an endowed scholarship in memory of her brother Jim. She is also a USF Alumni Board Member, and also serves on the Advisory Board of the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

Along with her work in radio, television and print, Ann serves as a consultant and a celebrity spokesperson for Bobby Jones Golf (www.bobbyjonesgolfshop.net) and Tri Bag (www.tri-bag.com).

Ann was among the first group of alumni from her Brecksville High School in Ohio to be inducted into the Brecksville High School Alumni Hall of Fame, joining the Mayor of the town and three previous Mayors who were also inducted. More recently, Ann was the first woman to receive the "Broadcast Media" Award from the Nassau County Sports Commission at their 2005 Annual Awards Dinner. She also was the Honoree at the 2003 Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center Golf Tournament and the Honoree at the 2003 Coalition on Child Abuse & Neglect Black Tie Gala.
